Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a General Accountant in the Windsor area!

Purpose of the role:

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting with all accounting functions up to and including the Trial Balance using Sage

Salary range: $60-80K/year

What you will do:

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts by accurately processing financial transactions according to company policies and accounting standards

• Prepare and submit weekly and monthly financial reports under the direction of the Controller, supporting accurate financial analysis and business decision-making

• Assist the Controller with the month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of monthly working papers and year-end audit schedules to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting

• Update and maintain financial databases to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of financial data

• Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile account balances, compile trial balances, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger

• Calculate, prepare, and file government remittances in compliance with legislative requirements, including income tax, sales tax, and workers’ compensation

• Record incoming cash receipts, process bank deposits, and manage the petty cash fund by internal controls

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for multiple business divisions, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly

• Collaborate and provide relevant financial data and documentation to external accountants and auditors

• Other core expectations as defined by the company

 

Job Requirements

What you will bring:

• Post-secondary education required, degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or relevant field preferred – must have experience using Sage

• Foundational knowledge of core accounting concepts and financial reporting

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word), is essential

• Strong analytical and sound decision-making skills, with the ability to perform effectively in high-pressure or fast-paced environments

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

• Results-driven and self-motivated with the ability to independently manage tasks and adapt to changing priorities

• Other core expectations as defined by the company policies and procedures
